For the past 25 years, NWN’s Smart Government Solutions practice has focused exclusively on public sector and education clients. Our experienced professionals help clients across the U.S. bridge the silos in their business processes and information systems. Our shoulder-to-shoulder approach is simple. We take the time to understand a client’s needs, and then use our deep domain expertise and technical skills to help implement solutions that make an impact. We have a proven ability to help clients get results that are good for citizens, for government staff, and for taxpayers as well. We offer solutions in three primary areas: application development, business process consulting, and analytics and business intelligence.

Application Development. Our iSOLUTION methodology enables us to develop complex information systems from inception and deliver them on time and within budget. We have developed and implemented systems for over four dozen state agencies that range from Pardon, Probation and Parole, to Insurance, from Revenue to Employment, from Parks and Recreation to Disabilities and Special Needs, from Higher Education to Law Enforcement, from the Department of Motor Vehicles to Retirement. Two example of our recent work are:
  • Business One Stop. We offer an award-winning one-stop portal for business registration. We have linked the processes of multiple state agencies to provide a complete, seamless experience for business owners to arrange all the permits, fees, and registrations they require. The result? Speed to revenue for both the owner and the state.
  • Voter Registration. We offer the most advanced and effective voter registration and election management solution available today. It helps state and local jurisdictions register voters, manage elections, tabulate and certify results, and communicate those results to the public. NWN’s Smart Government team tailors the system to meet our client’s precise specifications.
Business Process Consulting. Every public servant wants to help clients get the services they need, but sometimes business processes need a tune up. The Smart Government team works with public sector organizations to plan and implement effective, client-centric service management processes. We offer business process design and change management as well as assistance in planning and performance management.
  • Early Learning. NWN’s Smart Government team is assisting one state’s Early Learning agency in establishing effective business processes in concert with the state’s development of an Early Learning Information System.
  • Scenario Planning in Higher Education. Smart Government consultants helped a large community college system use scenario planning for long range information technology planning. Through the process, the IT organization was able to highlight unarticulated, but critical needs, and to engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders effectively.

Analytics and Business Intelligence. Many government leaders struggle to make decisions with information that is splintered into disjointed files and databases. NWN helps clients draw meaning and insight from their data. Through leading-edge analytics, we help clients uncover the hidden facts about their organizations and their citizens. Then we work with leaders to take informed action. Our clients include executives in human services, early learning, and higher education.

  • Department of Social Services. DSS has asked NWN to pull together the data from its operational systems. Having a comprehensive database and a strong tool set will help DSS leaders with executive information needs ranging from compliance reporting to ad hoc analyses that highlight opportunities for performance improvement.

For the past 25 years, NWN’s Smart Government Solutions practice has focused exclusively on public sector and education clients. Our experienced professionals help clients across the U.S. drive improvement in their organizations, business processes, systems and results.
